Plan a multilingual website before translating it

These guides explain VollSite’s tools and their limits.

A multilingual website needs complete, useful versions of the information visitors rely on. Start with the languages your audience actually uses and that someone can review. Translating every possible phrase is less useful than ensuring your offer, contact path and important conditions are understandable in the versions you publish.

Choose a reliable source version

Finish the core facts before translating them. Names, prices, services and links should be correct in the source. Keep a short list of terms that should remain consistent, such as a project name or service package. Decide whether a name should stay in its original script or use an established local form.

Review meaning and layout together

A literal translation may use an unfamiliar phrase or change the strength of a promise. Check calls to action and important limitations carefully. Longer text can affect spacing, while right-to-left scripts need an appropriate reading direction. Inspect each complete version on a narrow screen, including forms and navigation.

Give each real version an appropriate address

Search engines can use language-alternative links to understand related versions. These references should point to versions that actually exist and link back appropriately. Translating only a menu does not make the main article a translated article. Google explains localized-version signals at https://developers.google.com/search/docs/specialty/international/localized-versions.

Let visitors choose

Keep a visible language choice and avoid forcing a switch based only on a visitor’s country. A person may prefer another language from the one commonly used in their location. Search engines decide which version to show; language metadata is guidance rather than a guarantee of a particular country result.

VollSite Free allows one fixed website language selected during creation. Pro supports adding language versions with translation requests drawn from the account allowance. Review each version before publishing, and recheck translations after changing the source. Machine-assisted translation is a starting point, not proof of native-language accuracy or legal equivalence.
