You do not need a complex brand system to make a coherent first website. Choose a small set of colors and a readable typographic direction, then apply them consistently. A visitor should notice your work and understand the page before noticing the decoration.
Start with the content’s character
Write a few concrete preferences: calm and spacious, lively with clear contrast, or formal with restrained color. Connect them to the audience and material. A dense project explanation may need a quieter reading surface than a short event introduction. Avoid piling together unrelated references that make the brief contradictory.
Give each color a role
Use a background, a primary text color and an accent for important actions. Check that the accent works with its text, not just that it looks appealing in a swatch. A pale brand color can be decorative without becoming a low-contrast button. Do not use color as the only way to distinguish an error, a plan or a selected choice.
Keep the type system simple
Headings and body text need different roles, but too many competing styles make a page harder to scan. Check long words, numbers and punctuation as well as the main headline. If your website uses another script, inspect the actual language rather than judging only Latin letters.
Review edits in context
After changing a color or heading style, inspect links, buttons, captions and the footer at narrow and wide widths. A single global change can affect more than the section you were looking at. Keep a recognizable direction instead of redesigning every section independently.
