How to write an About section that sounds like you

These guides explain VollSite’s tools and their limits.

An About section helps a visitor understand the person or organization behind a website. Start with what you actually do and why it matters to the reader. You do not need a dramatic origin story or a list of adjectives to sound professional.

Answer a visitor’s real question

For a service business, explain your work and the people you help. For a portfolio, describe your focus and approach. For a personal project, explain what you are exploring and why you made this space. One useful paragraph can be enough when the rest of the page shows the work.

Use specific, supportable details

A sentence about repairing older bicycles or creating illustrations for independent publishers is more informative than calling yourself innovative. Include experience or qualifications only when accurate. If you work alone, use a voice that reflects that rather than inventing a large team. Readers should be able to connect your description with the services and examples elsewhere on the page.

Keep personal boundaries deliberate

You can share a motivation or interest without publishing your home address, private family details or identification. Choose a public contact method and decide what level of personal detail is appropriate for your audience. If another person appears in your story or photograph, get their permission before publishing identifiable information.

Try this outline

Begin with your name or project name and a clear description of your work. Add a sentence explaining your approach. Finish with what you welcome next: a project conversation, an inquiry or a chance to explore your work. Read it aloud and remove phrases you would never use in a conversation.

When you use VollSite, provide those facts in your answers or additional details and specify the tone you want. Treat generated wording as a draft to review. Replace exaggerated claims, unsupported achievements and generic filler with your own language. The goal is a clear introduction that helps someone decide whether to keep reading or get in touch, rather than a paragraph that could describe any business.
